In 1985, Joe and I (Tonian) outran the space in our home for collectibles and Zip's was born. We both developed our passion for artifacts at an early age and started collections as children. I became a fine art dealer back in 1969 and always purchased inventory with the same sensibility toward toys, dolls and animation as the fine art. Joe collected toys and dolls when we met; perhaps influenced by his grandmother's doll repair enterprise.
We have always loved the designs of early toys and viewed the store as much as an art gallery as a toy store, so it is natural for us to allow Zip's to become mostly a collector's art gallery dedicated to good design in everything from jewelry and pop art to artists dolls and all manner of character merchandise. We will continue to increase our selection of smalls, furniture and general antiques to add to our huge selection of all our collectible merchandise.
